Sirnitsa on the Square AfternoonOn Saturday after visiting the houses by the Kukeri, the feast will start on the square at 14:00. The people will go out, there will be music there. The head of the local Chitalishte (the community cultural centre) will tell something about the custom.
A mask contest will follow. All masked of the Kuker band and others will get numbers. The Kuker band will descend from the church direction: first the imps with their lids (big old-time caps for bread), then the ploughmen, the sowers, and the Kukeri at last, with the grannies playing amongst them. The Kuker band with the other personages will pass quickly. If any guest Kuker band is invited to perform, the procession will last a bit longer; inviting guests Kukeri will depend on the financial capacity of the mayoralty. When the Kukeri have past, they will join the horo (a traditional Bulgarian chain dance) having just their “hlopki” with them, and without the hoods. |
Kuker Visits on Kuker DayIf they have got invitations to guests anywhere else, the Kuker band of Gorni Domlyan Village will go to perform to other neighbour settlements too.
They have been guests to Banya Town, Beguntsi Village and Karlovo Town till now... The youngsters will travel and play to other places too. |
